Arvind Kejriwal misses I-T deadline

Arvind Kejriwal missed the Income-Tax Department's deadline to pay 9.27 lakh in dues for violating service rules and sought more time.

NEW DELHI: Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday missed the Income-Tax Department's deadline to pay 9.27 lakh in dues for violating service rules and sought more time.

"I am consulting my friends and will take a decision in a week or ten days. They had given me very little time," Kejriwal said. The Office of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax had on August 5 issued a notice to Kejriwal asking him to pay the amount on the ground that he had violated bond clauses under which he went on a study leave for two years. A fresh notice was issued to him a week ago asking him to pay by October 27. - OPB
