Arvind Kejriwal bribe remark: Advocate moves HC, seeks to summon EC's Delhi polls record

NEW DELHI: An advocate, who has filed a criminal complaint against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly exhorting voters to take bribe from Congress and BJP and vote for AAP in the last assembly polls, today moved a Delhi court seeking to summon record from Election Commission.

In his plea, the complainant has sought summoning of the poll panel's record pertaining to the notices issued by it to Kejriwal on the issue earlier this year.

The application was filed in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Babru Bhan and it is likely to be taken up on December 4.

Advocate Arun Kumar sought to summon an official of Election Commission of India along with original record of two notices issued by it on January 20 and January 23 to Kejriwal.

He also sought the court to call complainant's witness in the case with original records for examination.

The court has fixed the case for recording pre-summoning evidence in support of the complaint.

During the pre-summoning evidence, the complainant is required to bring material on record in support of his allegations. Based on this, the court decides whether prima facie offence is made out against accused for summoning him.

Meanwhile, on a similar complaint seeking lodging of FIR against Kejriwal, the court today fixed October 26 for hearing arguments on a police report.

The complaint was filed by advocate Ikrant Sharma who had sought registration of FIR against Kejriwal for alleged offences including abetment, offering or accepting bribe and punishment for bribery under the IPC.
