Doctors attending on her said that there is infection in the stump of her amputated limb which require surgical removal of the infected tissue. Sinha also has multiple fractures in the right limb for which she is likely to undergo a surgery on Tuesday, a doctor said.
According to Dr M C Mishra, chief of the Trauma Centre, Arunima reached the centre at around 8pm after being flown from Lucknow in a state aircraft. ''Her condition is stable. Our initial assessment of her medical condition shows that there is some infection in her amputated leg but that is not life-threatening. She does not have fever and she is talking. However, there are two major fractures in her right leg which has been plastered over. We will reopen it for further assessment and surgery, as required for a detailed investigations,'' Mishra said.
He said that Arunima has complained about tenderness in the neck, which can be due to a possible spine fracture. ''This is serious and requires detailed examination. We will have to be careful while moving her so that no further damage is caused. We are confident of saving her life and to ensure that she will be able to walk again,'' he said.
Dr Vijay Sharma, the orthopaedic surgeon attending on her, said that the victim was lucky to have survived.
