Arundhathi Roy’s mother wears the AAP cap

KOCHI: Taking cue from elsewhere in the country, many well-known personalities are joining the Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) in Kerala too. Mary Roy, social activist and mother of author Arundhathi Roy, is the latest to join.

A group of 40 to 50 people, including Mary Roy and the staff members of her school, Pallikkoodam, have taken membership in AAP. “On receiving her call, we went to her house to give the membership,” a senior worker of AAP said. Well-known writer Sarah Joseph had recently said she has joined the AAP.

KM Shahjahan, former personal staff member of CPM leader VS Achuthananthan, has also recently disclosed that he has joined AAP. CK Janu and Geethanandan, leaders of the Adivasi Gothra Mahasabha, had said of late mentioned plans to do the same. “We will discuss this in our next meeting and take a final call on this,” the two leaders had said.
