Arunachal Pradesh raises superannuation age of doctors
ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced to increase the superannuation age of doctors to 62 years from the existing 58 years.

This has been done in keeping with the Prime Minister's special announcement for enhancing the age of superannuation of all doctors of the Central Health Service to 65 years with effect from May 31 last, an official report said.

It is a widely acceptable fact that the learning curve of doctors increases with age and their knowledge and experience keeps growing as they grow older, the report said.

Also with the coming up of a medical college in the state, there would be a need for experienced doctors, both to treat patients and teach.

The enhancement of the superannuation age of doctors would not in the least affect employment in the state or pose a problem on the question of unemployed doctors, the report added.
