NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today sought to clarify that he was Leader of Rajya Sabha while Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the leader of the BJP Parliamentary party after opposition raised question on the issue.

The Minister had to issue a clarification in this regard after Naresh Aggrawal of SP sought to know from the Chair that who was the Leader of the House citing news reports that suggested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Leader of the BJP in both Houses of the Parliament.

"The BJP Parliamentary party is separate and the Leader of the House is separate. BJP Parliamentary Party's leader and deputy leader are different and the Leader of the House is different," Jaitley said in Rajya Sabha.

BJP had recently declared Modi as the leader of its Parliamentary party and Home Minister Rajnath and Jaitley as its deputy leaders in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively.
