KOCHI: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today equated the role of Finance Ministers with the job of housewives who have to say "no" to many people and earn their displeasure.

"I am conscious of the fact that the Finance Minister's job is a very difficult job. He is like a housewife. He has to displease a lot of people and say no to various expenses," Jaitley said at a function organised here to celebrate the achievement of Kerala government's Karunya Benevolent Fund.

He said the Finance Minister, like a housewife, has to keep money saved and keep secretly at various places to run the system.

"And he has to bring that money out" to make sure that they will be used only for best purpose.

"He has to say no to more people so that he can save for the right purpose," the Union Finance Minister said, while lauding Kerala Finance Minister KM Mani for utilising the money coming from the state government's Karunya lottery for providing health care to the poor and needy.
