Arrested terrorist Kasav may not be produced in court today
The Mumbai police crime branch will on Thursday move an application before a magistrate's court requesting the magistrate to hear the arrested Mumbai attacks terrorist Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab's custody in the crime branch itself.
"He (the terrorist) cannot be taken to the court due to security reasons and thus the crime branch will request the magistrate to hear the remand in all probability in the crime branch office," joint commissioner of police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said.
The reason Maria gave was that of a possible risk to his life.
Kasab, the sole terrorist of the group of ten to be arrested, has been in police custody since November 27 and has been kept in an undisclosed location.
Kasab was expected to be produced at the Esplanade court house in south Mumbai as the police seek his remand in one of the 12 cases registered against him.
Kasab has been booked under various sections like murder, attempt to murder, waging war against the nation, conspiracy and sections of the arms act & explosives act.
