Arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar a conspiracy of RSS: Mayawati

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj party chief Mayawati has dubbed the arrest of JNU Student body President Kanhaiyya a conspiracy hatched by the RSS and BJP. Calling the arrest unfortunate she said that the RSS was doing a great disservice to the nation by trying to label JNU as anti national.

Maaywati, in a press release issued by her office, said that arrest of Kanhiyya was wrong and the Delhi police seemed to have acted under political pressure.

She said that the police had no evidence against Kanhiya and the video of the event also does not show Kanhaiya raising any controversial statements.

Mayawati said that while the police had arrested JNU students for hailing Afzal Guru as a martyr but was trying to form the government again in Jammu and Kashmir with PDP which had also opposed hanging for Afzal guru and called him a martyr.

She said that the BJP governments have been famous for the misuse of laws like TADA, but now the Narendra Modi government has itself with a new legal weapon in the name of “anti national”.

Mayawati said that the Modi government was also bent on destroying a renowned institution like JNU which was even more unfortunate.
