Arrest of B K Bansal was as per law: CBI
NEW DELHI: CBI today said the arrest of B K Bansal, senior official of Corporate Affairs Ministry, was made as per law and due procedures of the agency as has been done in other bribery cases in the past.

"It is reiterated that the arrest procedures of CBI have not been questioned by the Court. Arrests in this case of bribery of B K Bansal, in which he was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 9 lakh was necessary for investigation of the case," CBI spokesperson said.

The reaction of the agency came in the backdrop of observations made by Special CBI Judge Gurdeep Singh, while giving interim bail to B K Bansal, Director General Corporate Affairs to attend the last rites of his wife and daughter yesterday, who allegedly committed suicide, that CBI needs to "rethink" whether it is necessary to arrest accused in such cases.
