Army goes proactive to weed out corruption

CHANDIGARH: The CBI, in a joint operation with Military Intelligence on Saturday, took into custody, A K Sondhi, a civilian employee in the Ordnance Branch of the Chandimandir based Headquarter Western Command from his Panchkula residence, while allegedly accepting a large amount of money from a prospective candidate for recruitment in an Army Ordnance establishment.

Army authorities had been keeping a tab on his activities for the last six months and Sondhi was arrested red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe, an official spokesman said here today.

The Preliminary searches at Sondhi's residence led to the recovery of huge amount of cash and other liquid assets including FDs and bonds.

Coincidentally, the wife of the individual is also an employee in the same department.
