NEW DELHI: The Indian Army will organise a series of events next month to commemorate the valour and sacrifice of nearly 1.5 million Indian soldiers who fought in the First World War.

A special exhibition will be held showcasing pictures and memorabilia from the World War-I.

The Army has also traced the family of six Victoria Cross awardees and they would also be taking part in the exhibition.

A total of 11 soldiers from undivided India were awarded the Victoria Cross, the UK's highest military honour awarded for bravery on the battlefield.

The event will begin on March 9 with laying of wreath by President Pranab Mukhejee at Amar Jawan Jyoti.
