GUWAHATI: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief and Lok Sabha MP, Badruddin Ajmal on Thursday said that by making political comment Army chief General Bipin Rawat has shamed the coveted post.

Rawat while speaking in a seminar on "North East Region of India — Bridging Gaps and Securing Borders" in New Delhi said, “There is a party called AIUDF, if you look at… they have grown in a faster time-frame than the BJP has grown over the years. When we talk of Jan Sangh with two Members of Parliament and where they have reached, AIUDF is moving at a faster pace in the state of Assam. Finally, what will be the state of Assam, we will have to take a call.”

Ajmal has appealed the supreme commander of armed forces, President of India, Ramnath Kovind to take note of it. “It is not the domain of army chief to monitor the rise and fall of a political party. He has overstepped his role.”

Ajmal said that by admitting that there is still infiltration, he has questioned the Border security Force which is manning the international border. “ Rawat is misinformed. If required I will go and meet Rawat.”
