Arjun Munda granted bail in 2007 case

A local court on Friday granted bail to Jharkhand CM after the latter moved a 'surrender with prayer for bail' petition in a case lodged in 2007.

GARHWA (Jharkhand): A local court on Friday granted bail to Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda after the latter moved a 'surrender with prayer for bail' petition in a case lodged in 2007.

First class magistrate S Birua allowed the bail petition moved by Munda, who was present in the court.

Surendra Ram had lodged the case against several persons, including Munda, during the alleged torching of his bike during an election meeting here in 2007.

The sections under Indial Penal Code slapped against the accused were IPC 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage to an amount of Rs 100 and upwards) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
