Archana Dutta is OSD to President

The government on Friday appointed Archana Dutta as the new Officer on Special Duty (Public Relations) to President Pratibha Patil.

NEW DELHI: The government on Friday appointed Archana Dutta as the new Officer on Special Duty (Public Relations) to President Pratibha Patil.

Dutta's name was cleared today by the President's Secretariat after hectic consultations on the panel submitted by the information and broadcasting ministry, official sources said.

A 1983 batch officer of the Indian Information Service, Dutta was handling the rural development ministry before her new assignment.

Dutta, who is of the rank of joint secretary, has also served as OSD to former Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi. In her new assignment, she will look after media and public relations, the sources said.
