World's largest steel producer ArcelorMittal on Wednesday said that it is partnering with various state agencies to provide relief materials to the flood hit-regions of Bihar.
NEW DELHI: World's largest steel producer ArcelorMittal on Wednesday said that it is partnering with various state agencies to provide relief materials to the flood hit-regions of Bihar.
In a statement issued here, the company said a week ago, it had approached the disaster management cell of the state and offered its assistance.
"Deeply concerned about the rapidly escalating crisis in Bihar, ArcelorMittal reached out to the Disaster Management Cell of the Government of Bihar a week ago," the statement said.
Last week, terming the floods in Bihar as a "national calamity", Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had announced Rs 1,000-crore aid and 1.25 lakh metric tonnes of foodgrains for the people reeling under an unprecedented deluge caused by river Kosi.
