Appointing a new interlocutor at this juncture may delay the solution: NPF

​Deputy National Security Adviser RN Ravi, who is also the interlocutor of Naga talks was appointed Governor of Nagaland on Saturday.

Guwahati: Nagaland’s main opposition party, Naga People's Front has said that appointing a new interlocutor at this juncture may delay the solution.

Deputy National Security Adviser RN Ravi, who is also the interlocutor of Naga talks was appointed Governor of Nagaland on Saturday.

NFP while congratulating RN Ravi on his new assignment as the Governor of Nagaland and expressed the hope that with the new development, an amicable and acceptable solution to the Naga political problem as not far away.


In a communique NPF also appreciated the Central Government for appointing a person in the like of Ravi who is well versed with the Naga people particularly a man who is working closely with the Naga political issue.However, the NPF appeal the Centre that his new assignment should not hamper the ongoing dialogue between the Government of India and the Naga political Groups but expedite and bring solution at the earliest.

“Ravi who is an interlocutor on the Naga talks and is closely associated with the Naga problem and is now assign with new office, the NPF seeks the wisdom of both the Government of India and the Naga groups to hammer out the talks at the earliest. Ravi's appointment should not delay the solution in any ways but be another milestone in bringing solution, which is a long felt desire of the Naga people for decades,” the state statement stated.

NPF reiterated and avowed its stand that the Naga political problem has been the top most priority of the party since its inception and that remain unchanged.

NPF express that it has high expectation from the New Delhi that it will not play any delay tactics but give a sincere effort for the resolution of the Naga political problem. The NPF also ask the Central Government that Ravi's appointment as the Governor of the state should never hamper in delaying the talks and appointing a new interlocutor at this juncture may delay the solution.

The statement added,“The Naga people hope that through Ravi's, the aspiration of Nagas will be met because of his long interaction and closed association with all the negotiating groups on behalf of the Nagas including all civil societies covered by all Naga inhabited areas regardless of political boundaries”.

NPF appealed the New Delhi that sending Ravi to Nagaland as a constitutional heads and interlocutor should create a better co-relation to hammer out solution to the vexed Naga political problem
