Apology tendered to media persons for 'bungling' by Bhartiya Janta Party unit
COIMBATORE: general secretary P Muralidhar Rao today apologised to the media who were kept waiting and not allowed to cover the party meeting with BJP President Amit Shah here.

Due to tight security, the media was waiting since 10:30 am at the venue for review of BJP's membership campaign and meeting of state and district office bearers with Amit Shah, as local unit of the party informed that there would be 'meet-the-press' programme at 11:30 am and 4:30 pm.

Reporters were not allowed into the hall where the meeting was held. Only cameramen were allowed in for just two minutes.

Rao, who came after the first session of the meeting around 1:10 pm, told the waiting reporters that the 'meet-the-press' was not in the schedule of the party president. State and local office bearers had listed it without the knowledge of the national leadership and security.

When media persons started protesting and showed the letter citing the programme, Rao apologised for the 'bungling' done by the local office. He also ruled out any lack of coordination between the national, state and district units of the party.
