APCC to hold celebrations to mark Cong's 125th anniversary

APCC would organise various events as part of the concluding celebrations of 125th year of the party's formation next week.

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) would organise various events as part of the concluding celebrations of 125th year of the party's formation next week.

The concluding celebrations would begin on the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on November 14 and end on the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi on November 19, APCC president D Srinivas told reporters here today.

Sports like cricket, kabaddi for party leaders, including women, and competitions like essay writing, elocution and painting would be conducted for school children during celebrations, he said.

The concluding function is likely to be attended by the Union Law Minister and Congress general secretary Veerappa Moily, in-charge of party affairs in AP.

Srinivas was speaking after a meeting of the presidents of district Congress committees, city Congress committees and district coordinators.

The district functionaries have been told to make the programmes a success, he said.

To a query, Srinivas said the party MLAs and ministers are expected to participate in the celebrations.
