AP govt has failed in extending help to rain-hit farmers: BJP

State BJP chief G Kishan Reddy today alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government has failed to extend adequate assistance to farmers, who have suffered huge losses due to various natural calamities this year.

HYDERABAD: State BJP chief G Kishan Reddy today alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government has failed to extend adequate assistance to farmers, who have suffered huge losses due to various natural calamities this year.

The untimely heavy rains, floods and cyclone from May this year has broken the backbone of farmers and caused huge loss to them, Reddy told reporters here.

He alleged that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy was unable to apprise his own party leadership and the Central government about the misery of the farmers, who have lost their entire crop in the heavy rains that lashed coastal districts in the first week of this month.

The BJP leader said that the Chief Minister should lead an all party delegation to Delhi to make him aware about the situation of farmers in distress.

Referring to the reported remarks by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi that radicalised Hindu groups pose a bigger threat to India than terror outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba, he said such statements were detrimental to the country.

"The remarks of Rahul Gandhi are affront to the Hindu society of the country," he added.
