HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan has accepted the resignation of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and asked him to continue in office till alternative arrangements are made.

"Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh submitted his resignation to the Governor. The Governor, while accepting the resignation with effect from 19-2-2014, requested Reddy and his colleagues in the Council of Ministers to continue in office till alternative arrangements are made," a Raj Bhavan communiqué said today.

The official communication puts to an end the confusion for the past two days over the status of the resignation and the status of the council of ministers.

Reddy had submitted his resignation to the Governor on February 19 in protest against the Congress' and Centre's decision to divide AP and the way the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill was dealt with in Parliament.

The formation of Telangana state now awaits the formal nod of President with the Bill having been passed in both Houses of Parliament.
