Congress MLA from Jammulamdugu C Adinarayana Reddy announced his resignation from his membership in the AP legislative assembly and from the Congress party on Tuesday.
Kadapa Joint Action Committee convener S Ramachandra Reddy went on a "fast unto death" in protest against the CWC decision, even as Rayalaseema Peoples' Forum convener S Ramanaiah gave a call for a one-day bandh in Kadapa district.
Talking to PTI, Reddy described the CWC decision as "a serious threat to the integrity and sovereignty of the nation".
"So many problems will crop up in the country with regard with water, power, revenue and many other issues," he said.
He said that demands for separate states may not stop even with 18 demands and may go up further.
"This decision of the Congress would act as a catalyst for separatist movements in the country," he said.
Claiming that "society" is more important rather than any party, he expressed concern over Rayalaseema's future and said he would fight for for a "unified" state of Andhra Pradesh.
