Anti talk ULFA dismissed the news of death of its commander in chief Paresh Baruah

Baruah is somewhere along China-Myanmar border. India recently asked China not give shelter to defiant ULFA leader.

Police has accused anti talk ULFA faction of recently killing five people in Assam’s Dhola.
GUWAHATI: Proscribed militant outfit, Anti talk ULFA which is also known as ULFA (Independent) on Wednesday rubbished the news of death of its commander in chief Paresh Baruah.

There was news doing the round elusive militant leader died at his base in Ruili, located on Myanmar-China border. The reports said that Baruah had met with an accident about a week back and succumbed to his injuries recently.

The outfit in a statement send to media houses stated, “Our leader is safe and sound has not met any accident. The news of his death is a hoax spread by people with vested interest. We appeal people not believe in this kind of propaganda.”

Pallab Bhattacharyya Director General of police (Civil defence/home guards/in charge of Special Branch) told ET, “Baruah met with an accident some time back while he was driving motorcycle he broke couple of bones however we have no inputs on he being dead.”

Leader of pro talk faction of Ulfa, Anup Chetia said, “There is no truth in the news. Baruah had met with an accident about three months back in Ruili. However, he called me up at least three times after that and told me that he is recovering.”

He added, "I received a call from Baruah on Sunday last, which I could not receive as I was in a meeting. So, considering all these facts I do not think that the news of his death is true," said Chetia.

Guwahati based Hiranya Saikia, member of the People’s Consultative Group (PCG), a group constituted by Ulfa in 2005 to mediate between government of India and rebel outfit said, “ On Wednesday Baruah called me up, I asked him about the news and he just laugh it off.” (Eom)
