Anti-land bill rally: Congress plans major mobilisation in Delhi on April 19
NEW DELHI: The Opposition is planning a major mobilisation against the Land Acquisition Bill ahead of the resumption of the budget session later this month. Even as Congress has directed four neighbouring states of Delhi to mobilise farmers for a big rally against the bill in the Capital on April 19, party chief Sonia Gandhi is slated to tour more states by raising farmers’ issues.

Gandhi’s next destinations will be Punjab and Maharashtra , where she will meet the farmers whose crops were destroyed by untimely rains last month, Congress leaders said. The Congress chief has already made similar tours of Rajasthan, Haryana, UP and MP as part of a move to identify her and the party with the concerns of the farmers at a time when the land acquisition bill is snowballing into a major political tussle between the NDA government and the Opposition, both inside and outside Parliament.
