Another writ petition seeking quashing of DBTL filed
MADURAI: Another plea was today filed in Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking clarifications on various issues, including how the Oil firms would deposit the subsidy amount under Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG subsidy system (DBTL) to account holders in villages.

The petitioner, advocate S M Ananthamurugan, who had already filed a petition seeking to scrap the DBTL scheme as it wanted people below the poverty line also to start an account, sought to know how the amount would be deposited with village level Cooperative banks which did not have IFSC code and postal savings bank accounts.

Despite the Supreme Court holding that Aadhar card was not necessary to get the subsidy, the government, through SMS, was insisting on production of Aadhar card, he said.

Further there was no clarification on the procedure that should be followed to implement the scheme, he claimed.

The petition seeking to quash the DBTL scheme would be taken up for hearing next week.
