Anna Hazare's campaign in UP will work in our favour: RLD

NEW DELHI: A day after it formally joined the UPA, the Rashtriya Lok Dal today said Anna Hazare's campaign in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh will work in favour of Congress-RLD alliance in the state as "people see Mayawati government as a corrupt government".

"They (Team Anna) are free to decide their own course of action. But I think the Anna campaign will help us in UP because people see Mayawati government as a corrupt government. If the campaign is against corruption then it would galvanise support for us," RLD leader Jayant Choudhary told reporters outside Parliament.

He said people of Uttar Pradesh have aspirations and today they want to oust the "corrupt Mayawati government".

Attacking the BSP supremo, the RLD MP said, "Today entire police force is demoralised in the state. She has used the entire state machinery to collect money and indulge in corruption. Everyone is fed up with her and that is going to be a major issue in the elections."

When asked how many berths the party is getting in the cabinet, he said, "We have given our support to the UPA but cannot comment on getting berths in Cabinet."
