Anjali Waghmare to take up Kasab's case: Prosecutor
The lawyer appointed to represent the lone terrorist arrested in the Mumbai attacks will take on the case.
Anjali Waghmare on Tuesday asked a Mumbai court for a day to consider her position following protests outside her home by activists from the local Shiv Sena group.
But prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said Waghmare "will continue and will make a statement to that effect in court" later Wednesday.
Waghmare was selected from the state legal aid team to defend Mohammed Ajmal Amir Iman also known as Kasab on Monday, ending a four-month legal limbo for the 21-year-old Pakistani national, during which he has had no lawyer.
Kasab was arrested on November 26 2008, soon after a group of 10 heavily-armed gunmen began a 60-hour assault on the countrys financial and entertainment hub, which eventually left over 180 dead and more than 300 injured.
He faces a string of charges, including "waging war" on India, murder and attempted murder, which carry a possible death sentence if he is convicted.
The trial is to begin on April 6.
