Anglo-Indian community seeks nomination to Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI: Leaders of Anglo-Indian community today asked the government to nominate two Anglo-Indian community representatives to the Lok Sabha.

The Federation of Anglo-Indian Association in India, whose National Executive met here, said that even ten months after forming of the new Lok Sabha, the government is yet to nominate Anglo-Indian members to the House.

"The delay has caused much heart-burn among Anglo-Indian community and this is an injustice to a weak minority," the Federation said in a release.

The community has also written a letter to the President and the Prime Minister urging them for an early discussion.

"The community is facing several problems and the delay in nomination of their representatives for almost a year denied to them to present their problems and get them redressed," the release said.

The Association decided to approach the Ministry of Minority Affairs to implement the welfare scheme for Anglo-Indians and other proposals in the reports prepared by the ministry during 2013.
