Andhra reports 8,555 Covid cases, crosses 1.58L mark, death toll reaches 1,474

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh on Sunday reported another single-day high new Covid positive cases of 8,555 after recording over 10,000 cases a day for three consecutive days last week. This takes the total to 1,58,764 cases in AP.

The state over the last 24 hours suffered 67 Covid deaths, which takes the total death toll to 1,474 so far.

AP reported 6,272 recoveries over the last 24 hours to take the total recovered so far to 82,886 persons while it saw 74,404 active cases by Sunday.


The state tested 52,834 samples over the last 24 hours, which takes the total to 20,65,407 tests thus far, the fourth-highest in India after Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Over the past 24 hours, Visakhapatnam (1,227) reported new cases in four-digits, while the rest 12 districts recorded new Covid positive cases in three-digits.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 38,678 tests per million population as against the national average of 14,291 tests, with a positivity rate of 7.69% as against the national average of 8.84%.
