Andhra reports 7,822 Covid cases, crosses 1.66L mark, death toll reaches 1,537

Andhra Pradesh on Monday reported another single-day high new Covid positive cases of 7,822 after recording over 10,000 cases a day for three consecutive days last week. This takes the total to 1,66,586 cases in AP.

The state over the last 24 hours suffered 63 Covid deaths, which takes the total death toll to 1,537 so far.

AP state reported 5,786 recoveries over the last 24 hours to take the total recovered so far to 88,672 persons while it saw 76,377 active cases by Monday.


The state tested 45,516 samples over the last 24 hours, which takes the total to 21,10,923 tests thus far, the fourth-highest in India after Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Over the past 24 hours, East Godavari (1,113) and Visakhapatnam (1,049) reported new cases in four-digits, while the rest 11 districts recorded new Covid positive cases in three-digits.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 39,530 tests per million population as against the national average of 14,566 tests, with a positivity rate of 7.89% as against the national average of 8.93%.
