Andhra Pradesh special status: Congress to file police complaints
HYDERABAD: Alleging that the ruling BJP-TDP combine "deceived" people by making promises like special status to Andhra Pradesh during elections last year, the Congress today said it would file police complaints across the state for three days from tomorrow on the issue.

"We will be lodging complaints in all police stations in Andhra Pradesh on September 7, 8 and 10. We will give evidences like election manifestos, the assurances given by Chandrababu Naiduji, Modiji in a public meeting at Tirupati and how they are diluting and making a U-turn on their promises," AP Congress president N Raghuveera Reddy told PTI.

Andhra Pradesh was promised special status by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Parliament during state bifurcation last year.

Alleging that the NDA "deceived" people of AP by not implementing the promises even after coming to power, Reddy claimed that police complaints would be filed under IPC section 418 (cheating with knowledge that wrongful loss may ensue to person whose interest offender is bound to protect).

Congress would also submit the "dying declarations" of those who allegedly committed suicide over the Centre not granting special status to AP, he said.
