Andhra Pradesh: Six killed as truck falls into gorge in Kurnool district

KURNOOL: Six persons, including a woman, were killed and another 10 sustained injuries when a truck carrying a marriage party fell into a gorge in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, police said today.

According to police, the truck carrying around 50 people including the bride and groom was returning to Gopavaram village from the neighbouring Prakasam district.

"The truck was travelling on a ghat road when the mishap occurred last night. The bride and groom escaped unhurt. All the injured were admitted to a hospital. We are investigating the case," sub-inspector at Mahanandi police station R Lokesh Kumar said.

He said they are also trying to ascertain whether the driver was in an inebriated condition while driving.
