Andhra Pradesh reports over 10K Covid cases again, nears 2-lakh mark; death toll reaches 1,753

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh on Thursday repeated its record of five-digit Covid cases a day by reporting 10,328 new cases. This is the second consecutive day of reporting over 10,000 cases after recording similar five-digit numbers a day for three consecutive days last week. The latest addition takes the total to 1,96,789 cases in AP.

The state over the last 24 hours suffered 72 Covid deaths, which takes the total death toll to 1,753 so far. The state reported 8,516 recoveries over the last 24 hours to take the total recovered so far to 1,12,870 persons while it saw 82,166 active cases by Thursday.

AP tested 63,686 samples over the last 24 hours, which takes the total to 22,99,332 tests thus far, the fourth-highest in India after Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.


Over the past 24 hours, East Godavari (1,351), Kurnool (1,285), and Anantapur (1,112) reported new cases in four-digits, while the rest 10 districts of Andhra saw new Covid positive cases in three-digits.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 43,059 tests per million population as against the national average of 15,969 tests, with a positivity rate of 8.56% as against the national average of 8.86%. AP reported a recovery rate of 57.36% as against the national average of 67.62% and a mortality rate of 0.89% against the national average of 2.07%.
