Andhra Pradesh reports over 10,000 new COVID-19 cases, crosses 1.86 lakh mark

Repeating its record of five-digit Covid cases a day, Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday reported 10,128 cases. This comes days after recording over 10,000 cases a day for three consecutive days last week. The latest addition takes the total to 1,86,461 cases in AP. The state over the last 24 hours suffered 77 Covid deaths, which takes the total death toll to 1,681 so far. The state reported 8,729 recoveries over the last 24 hours to take the total recovered so far to 1,04,354 persons while it saw 80,426 active cases by Wednesday.

AP tested 60,576 samples over the last 24 hours, which takes the total to 22,35,646 tests thus far, the fourth-highest in India after Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Over the past 24 hours, East Godavari (1,544), Kurnool (1,368), and Anantapur (1,260) reported new cases in four-digits, while the rest 10 districts recorded new Covid positive cases in three-digits.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 41,866 tests per million population as against the national average of 15,490 tests, with a positivity rate of 8.34% as against the national average of 8.87%. The state reported a recovery rate of 55.97% as against the national average of 67.18% and a mortality rate of 0.90% against the national average of 2.09%.
