Andhra Pradesh reports 9,747 Covid cases, crosses 1.76 lakh mark, death toll cross 1,600

HYDERABAD: Continuing its record of high-four-digit cases every day, Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday reported 9,747 cases. This comes after recording over 10,000 cases a day for three consecutive days last week. The latest addition takes the total to 1,76,333 cases in AP.

The state over the last 24 hours suffered 67 Covid deaths, which takes the total death toll to 1,604 so far.

AP reported 6,953 recoveries over the last 24 hours to take the total recovered so far to 95,625 persons while it saw 79,104 active cases by Tuesday.


The state tested 64,147 samples over the last 24 hours, which takes the total to 21,75,070 tests thus far, the fourth-highest in India after Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

Over the past 24 hours, East Godavari (1,371), Anantapur (1,325), and Kurnool (1,016) reported new cases in four-digits, while the rest 10 districts recorded new Covid positive cases in three-digits.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 40,732 tests per million population as against the national average of 15,043 tests, with a positivity rate of 8.11% as against the national average of 8.89%.

AP reported a recovery rate of 54.23% as against the national average of 66.31% and a mortality rate of 0.91% against the national average of 2.1%.
