Andhra Pradesh reports 9.5K new Covid-19 cases, death toll reaches 3,092

Andhra Pradesh on Friday reported 9,544 new Covid-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 334,940, of which 87,803 were active cases.

With 91 more people succumbing to the infection in the 24 hours till Friday morning, the death toll in the state on account of Covid-19 increased to 3,092, said a state bulletin.

A week ago, the state had reported more than 10,000 cases for five consecutive days and three consecutive days in the previous week.


The number of recoveries since Thursday morning stood at 8,827, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 244,045.

According to the statement from the state Covid-19 command control room, 55,010 samples were tested in the state in the 24 hours since Thursday morning, taking the total to 31,29,857 tests thus far – the fourth-highest in India after Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

East Godavari (1,312), West Godavari (1,131) and Chittoor (1,103) reported new Covid-19 cases in four-digits while the other 10 districts in the state registered cases less than 1,000.

Andhra Pradesh has reported 58,612 tests per million persons, as against the national average of 24,129 tests. The state’s rate of new positive cases by Friday morning stood at 10.70%, above the national average of 8.68%.

By Friday morning, the recovery rate in the state was 72.86%, lower than the national average of 74.30%. The mortality rate stood at 0.92%, as against the national average of 1.89%.
