HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government today ordered a CID inquiry into the fire incident at Old Airport in Begumpet here last night in which three planes and a helicopter were damaged.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who is presently participating in the ' Indiramma-baata' programme in Visakhapatnam district ordered the probe.

A major fire broke out in one of the hangars at the Old Begumpet Airport around midnight in which the aircraft and a helicopter of the state government were destroyed.

According to sources, the fire erupted allegedly after three explosions, resulting in huge flames. The blaze engulfed the hangar resulting in complete collapse of the shed.

"Exact cause of the fire was under investigation," assistant district fire officer said.

The airport is mostly used for landing of VIP planes.
