Andhra Pradesh Congress chief seeks revocation of suspension of 12 MPs

AP Cong Committee president today requested Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath to revoke suspension of 12 Lok Sabha MPs.

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana today requested Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath to revoke suspension of 12 Lok Sabha members from Andhra-Rayalaseema regions forthwith.

The MPs -- eight of Congress and four of Telugu Desam Party -- were on Friday suspended from Lok Sabha for five sittings under rule 374 (A) for constantly disrupting the proceedings, protesting the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

"I have written a letter to Kamal Nath seeking revocation of the MPs' suspension," Botsa told reporters here without elaborating.

Meanwhile, Botsa, who is also the state Transport Minister, appealed to the striking APSRTC workers to call off their agitation to save the organisation that was pushed into the red.

"The workers' associations have requested that the ailing APSRTC be merged with the state government. We will study the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka models in this regard and place a proposal before the chief minister," he added.
