Andhra Pradesh CM assures compenstation for farmers
AP Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy assured that every farmer whose produce was destroyed in chilli market yard fire incident will be fully compensated.
Reddy was speaking to reporters after visiting the fire ravaged largest chilli market yard today.
Reddy, who described the loss as colossal, refused to give a tentative assessment of damage.
"The government has appointed a committe to estimate the loss," he said.
The Chief Minister disclosed plans to construct a huge, and most modern world class Agriculture Market Yard, a few kilometers away from the destroyed market yard.
"The present Market Yard in 50 acres is congested to handle the magnitude of operations. Therefore we want to shift it away from the present location," he said.
Reddy revealed that make shift arrangements to resume market yard operations will be in place in 5 days to avoid inconvenience to the chilli farmers.
When asked about the cause of fire, the Chief Minister said, "we have appointed a committe to find out the cause of fire and suggest steps to prevent recurrence of the tragedy."
