Andhra Pradesh capital foundation-laying ceremony to be 'state' event

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government today decided to declare the foundation stone-laying ceremony for its new capital city as a "state function", a Government Order (GO) said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the ceremony to be held on the Vijaya Dasami festival on October 22. Many other Indian and foreign dignitaries would also participate in the event, the GO said.

The Andhra Pradesh government is drawing up plans to make it a memorable event.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had already performed the 'Bhumi Puja' for the construction of the capital city.

Singapore government agencies have prepared the Master Plan for the three-layered capital-- seed capital, capital city and capital region.
