Andhra cops begin probe into SIMI posters
Six handwritten posters warning of retaliation in the name of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) have appeared in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh.
Police have initiated a probe into handwritten posters in the name of Simi, warning of retaliation if arrests of innocent Muslims are not stopped.
���We have lodged a case and verifying whether it was the handiwork of any miscreants or it has any terror links,��� Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Vijaya Kumar said on Thursday.
Six posters ��� three in Telugu and three in Urdu ��� in the name of Simi were found pasted at different places on Wednesday in Devarakonda town of the district.
The SP said, the Telugu posters warned that ���we will retaliate if arrests of innocent Muslims are not stopped,��� the Urdu posters, ���Muslims should offer namaz five times a day and women should wear burqa (veil).���
Though Devarakonda town does not have any history of Simi activities , the police have taken the incident seriously and steps have been initiated to ascertain the facts, the SP added.
