Andaman & Nicobar demands NSG centre

NEW DELHI: Authorities in Andaman and Nicobar have requested the Centre to set up a National Security Guard base in the region following intelligence reports of a possible terror attack. In a letter to the home ministry, the union territory's chief secretary, Anand Prakash, has suggested deployment of the security agency's commandos to prevent any sabotage during the Independence Day celebrations and the upcoming festival season, which generally sees an influx of tourists in the region, according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation.
