NEW DELHI: An employee of the country's third largest software services firm HCL Technologies has tested positive for Corona Virus its headquarters of Noida, the company confirmed in a statement.

"Unfortunately, one employee from our Noida office has been tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus while he was in self-isolation after his return from international travel and hence our office is following all government and heath advisory protocols. All prescribed protocols of sanitization and contact tracing have been done. The employee is currently in an isolation ward and all measures are being taken to provide best medical care to him and support to his family," an HCL Technologies spokesperson said in a statement.

The spokesperson added that all other employees are in good health and are being monitored continuously. "We have invoked our COVID-19 Contingency Plan in all geographies which aims at maximizing Work from Home to aid social distancing and also issued a Travel Advisory across the company, taking full precautionary measures and suspending all non-essential travel until further notice."


IT and BPO companies which employ a huge workforce have been asking employees to work from home as a means to curb the spread of the Corona Virus.

Infosys has advised employees to work from home where possible while ensuring client confidentiality and security," Salil Parekh, CEO and managing director of Infosys had said in a statement on Monday.

States including Karnataka and Haryana which have IT hubs of Bengaluru and Gurugram have asked companies to allow work from home for their employees as a precautionary measure. The government has also temporarily tweaked its policy to allow work from home for IT-BPO operating from SEZs and STPIs last week.
