Amour constituency: Acid test for BJP’s Saba Zafar

AMOUR (PURNEA): Five years after Saba Zafar sprang a surprise by winning Amour seat as a BJP candidate, his popularity is again on test in the constituency, which has a high Muslim population.

What favoured Zafar in 2010 was the support that he got from Kulhaiya Muslims along with that of his party’s core vote base. Amour has a higher population of Surajapuri Muslims, while Zafar is a Kulhaiya Muslim. Both are known to vie with each other to get a candidate from their community elected. Zafar’s supporters do not want any aggressive leader from the BJP camp to undertake campaign in the constituency.
