NEW DELHI: AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Digvijay Singh on Wednesday, disproved the slapping of sedition case against Amnesty International in Bengaluru over anti-India slogan shouting at an event. Singh has also said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has assured him that no arrests will be made in the case till the probe into the incident is over.

“Simply raising slogans is not a fit case to be charged with Sedition. It is a law which British used against our Leaders in Freedom Movement,” Singh tweeted. Singh's comment comes at a time when the Congress was finding itself in a spot over sedition case by a Congress state government that too after Rahul Gandhi made a hue and cry over the “archival sedition law" when it was slapped on some JNU students some month ago for their slogans on Kashmir issue.

Singh also launched a counter attack on the BJP (whose activists were vociferously seeking arrest of Amnesty International officials) by asking if its ally PDP is an agreement with the contenst of Amanent International report on J&K why was saffron party still sharing power with it.
