JAMMU: Welcoming the new year, the Awami Muttahida Mahaz ( AMM) expressed hope that India and Pakistan would work toward normalising relations.

AMM hopes that 2014 will bring a marked change as leaders of both the countries take initiatives for peace in the region, AMM convener Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said.

He said the party expected new initiatives by democratic forces, civil society groups, intelligentia and youths for a process of conceiving better policy alternatives to overcome the crisis confronted by our people.

AMM firmly believes it is only through united struggle of our toiling masses that emerging opportunities can be availed of, he said, adding that party pledges to contribute its bit to make this happen.
