Following BJP’s spectacular victory in Assam in May, Shah piloted the idea of NEDA with the objective of Congress-mukt Northeast India.

GUWAHATI: BJP president Amit Shah’s ambitious project, North East Democratic Alliance ( NEDA), a grouping of non-Congress parties, will be launched on Wednesday in Guwahati.

Following BJP’s spectacular victory in Assam in May, Shah piloted the idea of NEDA with the objective of Congress-mukt Northeast India.

NEDA will be launched in presence of Shah and other central ministers on July 13. Leader of Meghalaya-based United Democratic Party ( UDP) Paul Lyngdoh told ET, “NEDA will be formally launched on July 13. It has already had two meetings.” Lyngdoh added, “the meeting will discus setting up of NEDA’s secretariat and working groups on different issues confronting the region.” NEDA was formed on May 24.

Besides regional parties, CMs of Assam, Nagaland, Arunchal Pradesh and Sikkim are likely to attend the meeting.
