Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Bengal in August even as violence continued in West Bengal following Panchayat polls.

BJP State President Sukanta Majumdar said in Kolkata on Saturday after returning from New Delhi following a meeting with Shah, said, "The Union Home Minister will visit Bengal in August. Shah is keeping an eye on Bengal's situation in the state. He is taking all measures to prevent loss of lives following Panchayat polls and taking necessary measures in this regard.

"It is a matter of relief that the Central forces will stay in Bengal days after the polls which will help to curb the troubled situation," Majumdar said.


Violence still continues even seven days after Panchayat polls.

The BJP State President said that he has given all data regarding death of people in connection with pre-poll, poll-day and post-poll violence in Bengal. "I have given a list of all deceased, including Trinamool Congress," Majumdar said.

"If Article 355 is implemented is not implemented, no election can be conducted free and fair manner," Union Minister of States & MP John Barla said.

Majumdar had visited Shah at his residence in Delhi with the rural poll violence-related data and documents that has been gathered by the saffron camp.

Taking to Twitter, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote on Saturday, "Even bloodcurdling violence in West Bengal could not stop the BJP from putting up a stellar performance in Panchayat Election.

The BJP nearly doubled its seat tally from the previous election indicating a significant rise in the trust placed by the people.
