He has already arrived in the city last night and will also visit Kalighat temple to offer pujas. He will also visit a puja organized by BJP at EZCC, Saltlake.
The pandal, one of the biggest in Kolkata, has been designed this year on the theme of ‘Operation Sindoor’, paying tribute to the Indian Army.
Organised by BJP councillor Sajal Ghosh, the Santosh Mitra Square pandal has packed an interesting fusion of faith, art, and political messaging.
An AI-based visual show of the recent terror attack at Kashmir’s Pahalgam will be shown to visitors as they enter the pandal.
The pandal, known for special lighting and sound effects, will offer a strong nationalistic message and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also seen in the show, organisers said. Models of the BrahMos missile and S-400 missile systems have also been put up.
Sukanta Majumdar, senior West Bengal BJP leader and Union minister of state for education, said, “What we have learnt from Shah’s office is that the Union home minister has limited time in his hands. So, he will inaugurate one Durga Puja in Central Kolkata (Santosh Mitra Square) and one in South Kolkata.”
Sajal Ghosh, meanwhile, paid condolences to the 10 people who died in the recent rain-related incidents in Kolkata, and has kept the inauguration of the cultural festival small.
