Amit Shah sees BJP win in Bengal, cites Delhi victory and Ayushman Bharat

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday declared that after the BJP's victory in Delhi, the "Lotus" will also bloom in West Bengal. He made the remarks in Lok Sabha while replying to a debate on the "Tribhuvan Sahkari University" Bill in Gujarat's Anand.

Shah's statement came during a back-and-forth with Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sougata Roy, who raised concerns about fund allocations for the state. In his response, Shah highlighted the success of the Ayushman Bharat scheme under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, which ensures that poor people can now access medical care up to ₹5 lakh without financial worries.

"Now, the people of Delhi need not worry, as the Ayushman scheme is being implemented there as well. Only West Bengal remains... The lotus will bloom there as well," Shah remarked, responding to Roy's repeated interventions.


On the legislative front, the Lok Sabha passed a bill to establish the 'Tribhuvan Sahkari University' in Anand, aimed at generating qualified manpower for India's cooperative societies.

Cong notices for breach of privilege against Shah

In another House development, Congress chief whip in the Rajya Sabha, Jairam Ramesh, on Wednesday gave a breach of privilege notice against Home Minister Amit Shah for allegedly casting aspersions on Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi during his reply to the debate on the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024, in the Upper House on Tuesday.
